Our story

The car...

With over three decades of experience in the dirt car racing industry, Ghetto Child Motorsports is a family owned 602 Crate Sportsman team. We race every Friday night from April through September. Our home race track is Albany-Saratoga Speedway located in Malta, NY. Our race team operates out of our home located in Johnsonville, NY.  Our team takes great pride in maintaining our race car from week to week to allow our team to be as competitive as possible with the 602 Crate Sportsman division. Albany-Saratoga Speedway averages one of the largest 602 Crate Sportsman car counts in the Northeast week to week. Many hours of research are completed to find the best equipment, setup, and strategies.  Racing is not our "hobby," it is our lifestyle.

The family

The driver, Dave Baranowski, is a second generation driver. Dave grew up watching his father race at various dirt car racetracks throughout the Northeast. He learned at a very young age how to prepare and maintain a racecar. The "Ghetto Child" name originated from a skate boarding brand that Dave and one of his closest friends used to use when they were younger. Unfortunately, on Dave's 16th birthday, his friend suddenly passed away. The "Ghetto Child" name is dedicated to that friend and holds a strong meaning to the Baranowski family. The sport is not just about the racing to our team, it is also about the memories made with family and friends.
